It's probably worth a reminder of some arrangements for visiting Scugdale to avoid issues and maintain the goodwill of the landowner and farmer. Dogs on leads are permitted courtesy of the landowner (this is not an automatic right on open Access Land). The relatively new tenant farmer is investing in noticeable improvements, these include reinstating fences and walls, he is supportive of climbing. Please use the gates and stiles to access the crags and follow the normal considerations to safeguard his support. Parking is limited and it is worth noting, the small parking bay can accomodate four vehicles parked nose in, there is also space for three or four vehicles parked carefully on the right just before the parking bay. Pull well of the road without going over the edge, large tractors and implements regularly use the road. Some 50m beyond the parking space there is a field gate on the right, opposite is what appears to be scope for parking. Please do not park here as it is frequently needed for turning into the field by large vehicles. Locals often rendezvous in Swainby and car share up to the crag, others enjoy a pleasant romp over the moor from Carlton Bank.

It was great to see students from the local University enjoying the crag today and full marks to their staff for proactively briefing the students including around parking.
