I'm looking to buy a gravel bike for my girlfriend who is on the short side of things. One of the bikes I favor is the Salsa Journeyman because the size S has an stand over height of just 72cm.

Unfortunately the German importer is not currently offering the black Journeyman with the one by Apex drivetrain, so I'm looking at options to order from abroad. The big retailers live wiggle Or Evans don't seem to carry salsa. Can someone recommend a good retailer? I already had a look at Salsa's website of course.

I would be open to alternatives for a bike as well. Biggest requirements are size (rider is 160cm with 72 cm inseam) and light weight and not super expensive (<2000 €)

Thanks a lot!

HIya,

Keep peddling in Manchester should be able to sort you out, give them a bell and they can get hold of most stuff from the US.

Might be of no interest, but are you aware of the Boardman range of Adventure bikes? I've got the ADV 8.9, had if for about a year and half. Have ridden about 4000 kms on it with minimal issues. Tough, comfortable, pretty affordable. They don't do the 8.9 in a women's specific fit but they do the 8.8 in a female specific version, its the same frame and wheelset as the 8.9 I think. The 8.8 doesn't have hydraulic brakes which is what I really wanted going for the 8.9 but from a quick google of the Salsa, it doesn't either - seen as a weakness in one review. The Boardman is a lot cheaper too - Salsa do seem a bit hip and charge something for that I reckon! https://www.boardmanbikes.com/gb_en/products/2154-adv-8.8-womens.html

I'm not I can the UK, but I but the local shops in Germany can only offer those models the importer is offering. What a stupid system! So I'm looking into buying it from abroad (from my perspective). Generally I find it quite hard finding the right bike because of the size issue.
Thank you for the Boardman suggestion definitely a good value.

Lyon Equipment are now the UK distributors for Salsa, so you could try giving them a call. Doesn't mean they bring all of the Salsa models into the UK though.

They've moved to Ripon, believe the company has had a change of owners

So it has - it's the Yorkshire Bikemonger now.  Still Ripon's a nice place too.  Used to live there for a while - evenings at Brimham and Caley are better than London commuting
