Of course what a good idea. I will go to Holfix  But missing will be the following,

If I just know the value of nothing and the cost of everything;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Gerry Shields Cycles was founded in 1948. It is a family run business which has gained an enviable reputation both within the cycle trade and amongst generations of customers for outstanding advice, service and integrity.

Our aim is to provide a level of advice and service seldom seen these days. Rather than restrict our products to a particular type of cyclist ( eg commuter, racer, bmx etc) we prefer to offer products to suit almost everyone, from the experienced rider to the toddler being fitted to his first bike. That's not all. Whilst some customers will require a great deal of detail and technical information, we realise that many customers will rely on our experience and advice to help them make the right choice. Buying a new bike should be fun. To this end, we are mindful not to make anyone feel intimidated or inadequate discussing a perhaps unfamiliar product. It doesn't matter if you're a complete beginner or been riding for years, we're here to help.

Our customers and their needs are the main priority of our business. This and only this allows us to maintain our reputation as one of the most trusted and highly regarded cycle retailers.

Our History

Gerry Shields was a formidable and successful racing cyclist in the 1940's and 50's and found himself competing against some of the top riders of the day including the late “great” Reg Harris, who's Carlton Track Bike is on display at our store.

After giving up his job as an underground electrician at Bradford Colliery Manchester in 1948, he opened his first cycle store aged 24.

All these years later, he still has the same enthusiasm and enjoys nothing more than building a special pair of wheels for a classic thoroughbred, or reminising with regulars about times past.

Chris Shields

The Team

Here at Gerry Shields Cycles, continuity is the key to success and reputation.

We're not the type of store where you'll be met by a different person at every visit. It sounds silly, but returning customers are reassured to be met by a familiar face! On visiting our store, you're most likely to be met by Chris Shields. Now a senior partner, Chris deals with the day to day running of this family business. With more than thirty years experience, Chris is well equipped to offer all the help and advice you're likely to need.

This is one of our younger customers Ben, lending a hand with saddle height adjustment...

From time to time, customers may also be met by Gerry Shields himself. Mr Shields, who is now well into his eighties and still riding his bike almost every day, takes an active interest and keeps Chris on his toes! It was Mr Shields who started the business in 1948 and his observations and opinions are always well worth listening to...

Gerry Shields

Without a doubt, here at Gerry Shields Cycles we have an enviable team at your disposal. Our approach is utterly professional. It's important to realise you are only ever as good as your last customer's experience in dealing with you. Many stores forget that.
