There seems to have been a bit of a resurgence in the availability of 27" tyres and I'd like to put something faster on my 1982 Raleigh than its current Michelins for fitness/training runs.

I'm not so worried about longevity or puncture protection as I'd like to prioritise performance (with latex tubes). I'm currently looking at Conti Ultra Gatorskins https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tyres/continental-ultra-gatorskin-tyre-27-x-1-1...

Anything better out there?

In reply to Basemetal:

The Panaracer Paselas are a much better tyre. Conti Gatorskins roll horrendously, and would be a total waste of latex tubes.

Unfortunately your choices are super limited. Could you adjust the brake calipers are in 700c wheels?

In reply to Schmiken: Thanks for the warning! I could accommodate 700c on the frame, but I'd probably be better putting the money into a whole new bike rather than a new wheelset at this stage.
