Outside Fest 2015 with La Sportiva and Petzl

The Outside Fest is a weekend celebrating all things climbing and running

in association with La Sportiva and Petzl

Including informal climbing competitions and prize draws as well as free workshops held on a mobile climbing wall by the climbing stars; plus the first 50 people through the door can claim a goody bag with free stuff from Petzl, La Sportiva Beta, Lapis, Climb On and DMM.

Neil Gresham will be running two free workshops (weather permitting) out on the rock on Saturday 10th (be there early to book your place), while Steve McClure, Danie Rushmer and Mark Croxall, Ben Bransby and Dave Barrans will be on hand to share their expertise on every aspect of climbing.

A marquee will host representatives from all the best climbing brands with new gear to test, competitions to crush and goody bags for the early risers. From Rolly Ball comps to prize draws and the infamous Wild Country Crack Machine there'll be plenty of chances to test your strength and your luck.

Try out the latest kit

With the latest ropes, harnesses, belay devices and climbing shoes available for a test, the Outside Fest climbing wall is where you get to try before you buy.

Footwork training

Professional advice and training tips from Steve McClure and Neil Gresham.

Safe belaying

There are many belay devices on the market. Find the right one for you and hone your belaying technique.

Self rescue

Can you get yourself or your partner out of a sticky situation? Try a few improvisation scenarios and hit the rock with a little extra confidence.

How strong is your gear?

If you've never seen a "test to destruction" now is your chance. Bring your old karabiners and let DMM remind you why you retired them, or watch Lyon simulating a direct hit on a helmet.

La Sportiva Running Day – Sunday 11th October.

Sunday will also feature practical running workshops led by Centurion Running, getting you into the heart of the Peak with the professionals. There will be three distances to choose from: 10k, 10 miles and 20 miles.

These will be informal runs in small groups, aimed at evaluating running styles and trying out the gear. Every participant will be able to test new La Sportiva shoes, Ultimate Direction running vests, Garmin GPS watches and Leki running poles. We will also have one of the footbed experts from Superfeet on hand to give expert advice.

Centurion Running will be giving a primer talk on preparation and training for trail running and then James Elson, Paul Navesey and Drew Sheffield will be leading the runs.

The workshops will cost just £15, runners will gain professional guidance and go home with a goody bag including a free pair of Smartwool socks and La Sportiva goodies (worth at least £30!).
