Calling all filmmakers…

KMF links with Channel 4 for a new film competition

In an exciting new development, Kendal Mountain Festival is collaborating with Channel 4 to launch a creative film initiative.

The KMF Short Film Competition supported by Channel 4, seeks to encourage and promote creative short-form filmmaking in the outdoor genre. It is a separate competition for short film, which sits alongside the existing KMF film competition.  Filmmakers are invited to enter films for the competition, which will be judged by a KMF jury chaired by Channel 4.

Winning films will gain both prize money and significant exposure. Channel 4 has revitalised its TV series called The Shooting Gallery; later this year a special edition will feature Kendal Mountain Festival, and nominees and winners will have the potential opportunity for their films to be broadcast.

Kendal@BFI Southbank

KMF hits the big time later this year when, in conjunction with the British Film Institute, there’s a special Kendal Mountain Film weekend at the BFI’s Southbank film centre. Your chance to see the best mountain action and adventure films in mindblowing full HD and theatre sound!

From Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th November, the finest KMF films will be playing across three cinema screens with a big event on the Friday night featuring three of the UK’s top filmmakers – Alastair Lee, Paul Diffley and Leo Dickinson – presenting their films and talking about their work.

More news in the near future - tickets will go on sale in August and can be booked online at whatson.bfi.org, or by telephoning the BFI Southbank Box Office on 020 7928 3232.

Big premieres confirmed for this year's KMF

Finally for now, there are two big film premieres confirmed – the Hotaches Productions film Distilled (which, we are reliably informed, involves Andy Cave and whisky), and Alastair Lee’s much-anticipated film The Great Last Climb. Which undoubtedly involves whisky too.
