Seattle, WA. — MSR® (Mountain Safety Research®), the Seattle-based manufacturer of high-performance outdoor equipment, has announced the launch of its new online publication, The Summit Register.

The Summit Register carries on the work of MSR's Mountain Safety Research Newsletter. MSR's founder Larry Penberthy created and wrote the newsletter, filling each letter with a healthy dose of his thoughts on climbing, life, and the outdoors. The newsletters ran from 1969 to 1981.

"Larry was committed to improving mountain safety and making sure the best information and gear was available to climbers," said Drew Keegan, director of MSR stoves and cookware. "The Summit Register carries on his mission. Early articles include stove education and terminology, how to fly with a camp stove, and cooking recipes. Our scope of content will continue to expand over the next few months to be a wide encompassing look at outdoor safety and awe-inspiring exploration."

Like the original, The Summit Register is a resource for improving safety, increasing knowledge and sharing MSR's passion for the mountains.

The early issues of the Mountain Safety Research newsletter can be found in The Summit Register's archives.
MSR product designers as well as MSR athletes will regularly contribute to the blog.
