Kendal Mountain Festival goes hybrid  Gear News

Tickets have gone on sale for the first-ever 'hybrid' Kendal Mountain Festival.

After last year's upheavals forced the entire event online, organisers and Festival-goers alike are understandably keen to return to a physical event. The success of the digital Festival – it was viewed in over 80 countries – also means that in addition to a live, physical Festival, the events and films will now be available online.

"For years people have asked if they can catch events afterwards, or see films they'd missed, to which the answer was always 'no'" says Festival co-director Clive Allen. "But now they can! Strangely, lockdown had a beneficial effect for once, pushing us to develop this hybrid event."

Also new for this year is the Kendal Mountain Player, a streaming platform giving adventure enthusiasts year-round access to films and events – including the digital Festival for annual subscribers.

So what can people expect this year? Reassuringly it's the usual mix of blockbuster events, top speakers, film premieres, the Trail Run and the legendary Basecamp Village which moves to a new, bigger home with even more free events.

"We can't wait to see everyone back together in Kendal again" says Allen. "Last year worked well, but we missed the buzz of a proper event, so it's great to be able to say; see you in November!"

The social event of the year for outdoor folk takes place across Kendal 18-21 November, with tickets and information at kendalmountainfestival.com
