30-Week Instructor Training Scheme Press Release

June is a momentous month for many young people, agonising over what to do in a normal year is hard enough, but signing up for three years of Unoverstory in the face of Covid-19 has not made that any easier.

As such we are offering a 30-week long mountain-based instructor training scheme, which will see you gain your ML(Summer), RCI, CWI and a Climbing Coaching qualification. Which will open up a variety of job opportunities from working in outdoor centres, climbing walls or even starting your own business as a sole-trader/freelancer.

The course breaks down into 4 stages.

  1. Getting your personal climbing, navigation and mountaineering up to a level suitable level to attend the *NGB Award training courses.
  2. Attending the *NGB award training courses.
  3. Helping you through a guided period of consolidation, so you met the pre-requisites for attending the NGB award assessment courses.
  4. Sending you on your *NGB Assessment courses.

To achieve this we will mainly operate on the crags and mountains of Snowdonia and North Wales. However, the UK awards require experience from across the UK. So as part of the course, we also visit the Peak, the Lakes, Scotland, the South-West and Spain.

An overview of the course can be found here

* we outsource the NGB training & Assessment courses for two reasons. The first is so you get a wider knowledge base from using course providers from outside the programme. Secondly, it means the result is totally independent.
