Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture, will be running two-hour-long Gaelic taster sessions on mountain names and and geographic features as part of the festival's series of workshops.

You could find out what Aonach Eagach, An Teallach or Buachaille Etive Mòr actually mean; or maybe even have a stab at pronouncing Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair .

The tutor for these sessions is native Gaelic speaker and scholar Cailean Maclean, a keen hill walker, professional photographer and broadcaster with a wealth of knowledge about Scotland's Gaelic history and place names.

Friday 22 February 2013, West Highland College, UHI, sessions at 11-13:00 and 15-17:00, £5 per person. For more info see the festival workshop programme here
