Back when we first reported the plan in February around 400 participants had already signed up, but on Saturday night the final figure was more like 500.

Nearly £10,000 has been raised so far (further donations can be made here).

The event was organised by Lakeland Mountain Guides, with support on the mountain from local instructors and Mountain Rescue.

'Huge thanks go out to all who supported and attended' says co-organiser Matt Le Voi.

'Special thanks to Cotswold Outdoor and Lakeland Walker for sponsoring the event. Raffle Prizes from local businesses, shops and pubs such as EDZ Layering, Embleton Spa Hotel, Quince & Medlar, Swinside.'

'Little Chamonix Cafe for baking cakes and raising money for Nepal, and also to Nichol End Marine for providing free hot drinks until midnight!'

Pictures from the night will shortly be sold by charity auction.
