This year's Morecambe Bay Walk takes place 13th June. On this annual sponsored charity fundraiser scores of people are led across Britain's largest expanse of tidal mudflats and sand, on an 8-mile walk from Arnside to Grange-over-Sands.

It's a famously treacherous landscape of shifting waterways and fast-rising tides, not a place for a casual stroll. Luckily the walk is led by local expert Cedric Robinson, the Queen’s Official Guide to the sands (who knew?), who has been leading these trips for over 50 years.

This year's event is in aid of landscape conservation group Friends of the Lake District, who hope to raise £7000 on the day.

'The walk is suitable for anyone who is comfortable walking for 3 to 4 hours' says the Friends' website.

'Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and well behaved dogs are welcome. The majority of the walk will be on sand but there will be times where you will need to wade through some channels so be prepared to get wet up to your knees.'

The walk takes place Saturday 13th June, starting at 3pm from Arnside Promenade and ending at roughly 6.30pm at Kent’s Bank near Grange-over-Sands. For more info or to register see here
