Lorraine McCall's journey around all 221 of Scotland's Corbetts is in its third week. Since starting in Roybridge on 8 April she's been making her way south on foot and by bike, and she's now in the hills above Loch Lomond with 25 summits done.

'Week two had a bit of everything', she wrote this Tuesday.

'I [was] joined by [work mate] Russell Newham for several days. We ...walked big grassy slopes through Glen Coe, Glen Etive, Glen Creran and Glen Orchy, finishing with the five Corbetts just north of Tyndrum, 17 Corbetts in total.'

'I got lost in a forest whilst Russell rode a road bike and mountain bike together up a woodland track. We had my surprise first birthday celebration on a mountainside in the wind and the mist.'

'Wind and sunshine have been the dominant conditions. A lot of wind!'

'Russell survived a day of feeling like he was going to die, still managing to climb 2 corbetts, too much sun or the glen water? Rob [Lorraine's partner] arrived to join us in Tyndrum, to sort out me and my food packs, he was running around with bikes and food drops and making sure we were fed and watered.'

With a boat and crew of pals booked to leave Ardrossan on 10 May for the island hopping stage of her journey, Lorraine is currently working to a deadline. The need to tick the widely spaced Borders and Galloway Corbetts before then has forced her to miss out a number of summits in the southern Highlands, which she'll now mop up later in the trip.

'I have now realised my initial plan was too ambitious and have cut some days out before joining the boat in Ardrossan' she says. '[I'm] planning to do them afterwards.'

Back on her own, she cycled from Tyndrum to Strathyre on Tuesday and went up Ben Ledi yesterday before heading west.

Having been through cancer treatment last year, Lorraine is raising money through the trip for Macmillan Cancer Support.
