Police Scotland have appealed for information following the discovery of a tent, apparently abandoned, in the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve.

The grey and orange tent was found to the northwest of Loch Coire Mhic Fhearchair, and the police are keen to locate the owner and establish if they're safe and well.

A forum user on this site has reported seeing it at the beginning of the week, when it contained only a sleeping bag and mat: see here.

Anyone with information should get in touch with Police Scotland.

Update 29/07/13: Good news. Local police tell us the tent's owner has been located safe and well.

Just spoke to Police and apparently they've located the person involved - all well I believe. Coming off the hill last Sunday we met a guy who was spending long periods up there doing some geology work for Aberdeen uni. Not sure if that was him or not, but Police told me they're not looking for any more info.

That's good news. I was there Monday to wednesday and and the tent seemed very odd so we reported it to the police.
Thanks Gaz. Just waiting for official confirmation of that

I just spoke to the police (having seen the tent last Saturday) and got told they've located him: he was a geologist who was heading up and down the hill over the course of the week. Sounds like all's well.
