Work starts this week on a replacement footbridge at An Torr near the Clachaig Inn in Glen Coe. While this goes on the nearby car park will be closed for some weeks.

The bridge, which links the Clachaig Inn side of the River Coe with the old visitor centre car park on the south bank, has been out of action for a couple of years.

The contractors GeoRope are using the An Torr car park as their base while working on the bridge.

'We will need to close the car park to the public for the duration of the work' say the National Trust for Scotland.

'We hope the bridge works will be completed by mid March, and the car park and bridge will then re open. We apologise for the closure but this work is essential to replace the bridge and provide access into An Torr from the car park once again.'

The rest of the paths in An Torr will remain open and can still be accessed from the gate and path near the Clachaig Inn.
