UKC / PyB - The Big Winter Climb Skills Weekend

© UKC News
Following on from the success of our previous skills weekends at Plas y Brenin, we are pleased to announce a weekend of workshops on winter climbing skills.

The Big Winter Climb (26-27 November)

Big Winter Climb

Our Big Winter Climb weekend is made up of a series of opt-in workshops covering a diverse range of winter climbing and mountaineering skills and techniques, with something to suit absolutely everyone. It's a great way to consolidate your existing skills, develop your experience and boost your confidence for the coming winter climbing season.

A programme of interactive workshops and inspirational lectures spans the entire weekend, allowing you to select what topics suit you best from a 'workshop menu', ensuring an individually tailored experience.
Supporting the workshops will be the 'Expert's Corner', where you will be able to quiz some of the country's most experienced climbers to make sure you get as much as you possibly can from the weekend.

All of this for just £160, including two nights accommodation, all your food, world class coaching and tuition and guest speaker on Saturday night. Perfect timing in the run up to what is surely going to be the best winter ever, it's just too good to miss!

I doubt there'll be much ice around to hone those skills on until at least late Dec!

I would take that £160 and spend it on some nice shiny gear and get someone off here to show you the ropes. I am moving to wales in a few months so I would be happy to get out with you and show you the basics!

There's no substitute for getting out there and winter climbing, but two days intensive and fun instruction from some of the best instructors in the outdoor world will be invaluable. The cost will be offset by the Big Winter Climb goody bag we are putting together. More details in September. Mick
