The Nine Edges endurance Trail runningWalking

This friendly local event attracts runners, walkers, mountain bikers and rock climbers to traverse 21 miles of the Peak District, past 9 gritstone crags...
The event has different categories for runners, hikers, mountain bikers and rock climbers. The climbers should climb one route of their choice on each of the 9 gritstone edges. This is normally done by hiking the 21 miles as a pair, with rope & rack, although some run/jog the route and solo the climbs! Note that the route shown here is NOT the biking one, and should only be used by walkers/runners.

Detailed description

1
SK1977890700 Bradfield Gate Head. Climbers can tick any route at Dovestone Tor (Derwent Edge). The final field, just south of Moscar House and before you reach the A57, has the worst terrain on the route - getting across the streams without getting wet can be tricky!

2
SK2301787817 Moscar Lodge (by footpath from A57). Drinks station. Climbers can tick any route along Stanage Edge. The clifftop path is particularly rocky, and hard work if you're not used to it

3
SK2601383004 Upper Burbage Bridge. Drinks & light snacks available. Climbers will probably take the higher footpath along the top of the edges, rather than the faster path through the valley. They should tick one route on Burbage North, and a second on Burbage South

4
SK2629280580 Burbage South. Care needed on busy road crossing

5
SK2554777675 Haywood Car Park (near Froggatt). Drinks & light snacks available. Climbers should tick one route on Froggatt Edge, and a second on Curbar Edge

6
SK2609674710 Curbar Gap (on footpath on Baslow Edge side). Climbers can tick any route on Baslow Edge

7
SK2766174040 Path/road junction near Clod Hal crossroads. Climbers will need to fork right to reach Gardom's Edge, and tick one route there, and a second on Birchen Edge. For runners & walkers, the route straight across the field towards Nelson's Monument can get quite wet & muddy. Drinks-only at the finish desk. However the finish is right next to a pub selling a wide range of food & drink...
