Approach notes

Because the Cononish Gold mine is now in active operation (at writing in March 2020), Scotgold has made specific provision for access to be maintained around the site, including to Ben Lui, on signed routes between Meall Odhar and Beinn Chuirn, and Cononish Farm, and to the Eas Anie waterfall/ice climb; these suggested routes are shown dashed in the map on this page, along with blasting information -

Access Advice

August 2020. There is a sign on the last track gate, which you would miss out if you followed the signpost to Eas Anie. This says that the Cononish Gold Mine will refrain from blasting within 300m of the route when it is in condition and being climbed. So probably a good idea to give them a call before setting off.  01838 400 306

Volunteer to moderate Beinn Chuirn
We rely on volunteers to moderate their local hills. You would check updates and approve scrambles/summits added to the database. It's a very easy job, and all you need is a guidebook and an hour or two each month. read more
