Hill features

Probably Switzerland's most important crag. Miles of cliff up to 1000m high, mostly very solid. Bolted but sparsely, so friends and rocks are essential. The easiest routes start at about F6b.

Approach notes

Park at Wendenalp, and then either bivvy / inconspicuous tent / sleep in car here, or take the 2-hour trip with food and sleeping bag to bivvy at the crag. A difficult decision. The routes are all long, there are often thunderstorms in the afternoon, and both the crag and walking descent are lethal during rain.

Volunteer to moderate Wendenstocke
We rely on volunteers to moderate their local hills. You would check updates and approve scrambles/summits added to the database. It's a very easy job, and all you need is a guidebook and an hour or two each month. read more
