For backcountry and alpine use, the lightest and warmest piece is the Cerium LT Jacket (M) & Hoody (W) a warm mid-layer or stand-alone piece. The key to the Cerium’s weightless, agile freedom include underarm gussets for better mobility, a three part sleeve construction for better elbow/arm articulation, Down Composite Mapping and a very lightweight yet durable face fabric that can hold up to everyday wear.
Down has a tendency to lose its loft and warmth when it becomes wet. As a solution to this challenge, Arc’teryx developed Down Composite Mapping, a construction method that strategically places 80g Coreloft™ synthetic insulation in areas where moisture may accumulate, and 850 fill European Goose down in the core to provide maximum warmth.
To achieve weight targets Arc’teryx simplified the jacket construction, reduced volume in the sleeves and applied very careful finishing. Savings gained through these processes allowed for the selection of more durable materials, resulting in jackets that are more durable but almost 10% lighter than any others.
