Statisticians Wanted in Wales

The North Wales Organisation for Trials in Health (Clinical trials unit) are looking for statisticians, if you would like an interesting job working to make people healthier that is based near the mountains why not apply?

Applications are invited for the appointment of two Trials Statisticians in the North Wales Organisation for Trials in Health (NWORTH). This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced, growing and innovative clinical trial unit (CTU).

The post holders will be responsible for management and analysis of specific studies undertaken by NWORTH, contribute to development of statistical aspects of research proposals and study protocols and undertake statistical consultancy for the Research Support Service for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The post holders, who will be part of a team of statisticians at the Trials Unit, will also be responsible for analysing and contributing to the management of statistical and methodological aspects of a range of research projects. A key task will be to assist in the preparation of grant applications, with the ability to communicate statistical concepts to academics, clinicians and other health professionals being essential.

An MSc in statistics, mathematics or an allied subject with a strong statistical background is essential. Practical knowledge of several essential statistical methodologies and knowledge of mainstream statistical software is also essential.

The two posts are available to start immediately and are for 24 months and 18 months respectively in the first instance although it is expected that the duration will be extended through new research grants being awarded to the CTU in the future. These posts are intended to be full time but applications from individuals interested in substantive part time roles are also welcome.
