Built in 1996 to offer increased resources for pupils, our Sports Centre offers a wide range of facilities, including 25 metre Swimming Pool, Fitness Suite and Sports Hall. There is also an open plan room with a servery and covered external balcony that’s ideal for hosting almost any activity from children’s parties and corporate functions to aerobics classes. In short, whether beginners, fitness fanatics or leisure lovers, there really is something for everyone. And, when it’s not being used by our pupils, outside members of the Sports Centre enjoy all of its benefits.

As a Deputy Sports Manager, you will work both as part of a team and individually on a rota basis as Duty Manager for the centre. You will also be responsible for delivering staff lifeguard training in your capacity as the Centre Trainer. What’s more, as a qualified Pool Plant Operator, you will ensure the safe operation of the pool, including maintaining plant room equipment and carrying out water testing and treatment.

The marketing and safe operation of the school’s Outdoor Adventure Centre will also come under your remit, including coordinating groups using the climbing wall and high ropes course. You will also make sure the buildings, facilities and surrounds are effectively managed by liaising with maintenance, grounds and caretaking and housekeeping departments. Organising and developing hire opportunities, teaching swimming and acting as a nominated key holder – all are aspects of this challenging and rewarding role.

Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, you have a positive attitude, ‘can-do’ and flexible approach and a passion for customer service. A minimum of 2 years’ spent working as a National Pool Lifeguard is essential, as is a similar time spent in a climbing/outdoor education role. Numerate and literate, you are also proficient using Microsoft Office. You relate well to young people too, and are happy to train and be trained by others in order to deliver a consistent service. Above all, you have the communication skills it takes to convey the professional image and ethos of the school.

During your time here you can expect a wonderful, forward-thinking working environment and a genuine CV-enhancing experience to relish. You’ll be part of a positive and joyous community and work with many ambitious high-achievers.
