Roped Climbing

The new lead climbing walls extend up to 17m high with a maximum 7m overhang, dwarfing the 12m high walls at the old Beacon Climbing Centre and offering numerous awesome routes guaranteed to offer a full workout and a rapid introduction to forearm pump! Hello Mr Lactic. Opposite the main leading wall, you'll find a 15m continuously overhanging wall, currently offering some brilliant and pumpy face style lead climbing, but with the additional potential to be configured as a speed climbing wall. Numerous additional routes can be found throughout the centre with superb technical and challenging climbing on gently overhanging and vertical climbing walls.

Bouldering

Our new bouldering area includes a full overhanging arch and offers a large array of climbing on a variety of angles, from vertical to very steep indeed. Further development of the bouldering areas is ongoing and will see the construction of a huge bouldering area beneath the existing mezzanine due for completion in Autumn 2012 in time for the start of the Winter Bouldering Aggregate, and set to include an 11m long and 5m wide bouldering 'routing roof' that will allow route style forearm pump sans harness. The dedicated kids' bouldering area encourages even the youngest children to get involved and features a colourful low level traverse wall and the delightfully named Tommy the Elephant.

CrazyClimb

Climbing for many of us isn't just about keeping fit and training and we have injected a huge amount of fun into the new Beacon Climbing centre with the inclusion of the World's first CrazyClimb installation. Weird, wacky and incredibly good fun, CrazyClimb at Beacon Climbing Centre offers 11 unique climbing challenges each using a convenient TruBlue autobelay system. Try shimmying up drain pipes, back footing up chimneys, tackling a wall with large purple blobs instead of normal holds and much more!
