Montane Pack Range

Montane's new pack range focuses on lightweight comfort, functional excellence, durability and weatherproofness. Available in the shops this spring, the range comprises four new packs ranging from 6 to 32 litres in capacity. Representing Montane's first foray into the world of backpacks, the packs were developed from a clothing manufacturer's perspective and include a number of innovative features, including zip garages, specifically sourced tough yet lightweight fabrics and jacket-friendly back panels.

Montane believe that lightweight packs do not have to compromise comfort and that pack comfort can lead you to go further and faster, ultimately enduring for longer in the mountains. Eighteen years of experience in designing and developing some of the world's leading mountain performance clothing has led Montane to develop packs using the same philosophy of lightweight functionality and excellence in design. Knowledge and attention to detail gained from years of clothing construction informs pack design. Expert fabric knowledge, understanding of body shapes, zip garages, internal storm baffles, waterproof shell friendly back fabrics, weatherproof capabilities, expert pattern cutting, tailoring, feature specification combined with a deep understanding of the mountains and the activities Montane designs for is a powerful recipe in creating serious mountain packs.

Missed this news but just purchased this pack having seen it in a local store. Didn't even know montane were making packs and am VERY impressed with this one. Simple but cleverly designed, light weight and a good price (£73) I think. I have tried many, many packs from Berghaus Arrette to Deuter Guide and Osprey Mutant but as soon as I picked this pack up I was sold on it. Ity fits well, doesn't get in the way of a helmet, is nice and slim for scrambling and is perfect for me :o) Looking forward to using it on the hills but expect that the monatne quality will be the same as their clothing so there should be no worries. Heres hoping the do a 70l pack in the near future :o)

Quick update. Used this pack today when scrambling up Pinnacle Ridge. Cracking pack, VERY slim, didn't even notice I had it on. Doesn't move about so doesn't affect balance and it doesn't get in the way when looking up, even with a helmet on. A perfect scrambling pack in my opinion. As I say, very narrow so never once did I feel it rub or snag anywhere. Wand pockets secured poles all day and the lid is very useful size for lunch/hat/gloves etc. The drawcord closure system is brilliant even with gloves on, so simple to open and close I don't knwo why more packs don't use it! Comfortably held my 3 litre camel-bak as well. Plenty of room in the pack for lunch box, waterproofs, insulated jacket, helmet, first aid kit, flask, shelter and more. My mate thinks is a tardis and it does seem to hold a lot of kit for a small pack. Very pleased with it. Comfortable all day and I didn't sweat as much as I normally do on my back. So Montane...when are you bringing out a 70 litre pack for multi-day winter trips?!?!?! I'll happily be a product tester for you!
