Next weekend is the third Lakes Festival of Climbing, starting on Friday, June 25 at 4:00pm, organised by the BMC Lakes team and Martin Kocsis the BMC Volunteers' Officer.
Location is the Duddon Valley in the Lake District.
Camp all weekend at Turner Hall farm or there are other accommodation options down the road at Wallowbarrow Farm or the Newfield Inn. Meet up at Newfield Inn pub. Sunshine guaranteed. Mountain crags, valley crags and awesome bouldering all nearby.
Quiz Friday night at the pub with prizes donated by Marmot, good beer, good food from the pub too. The Newfield Inn will be doing a special climbers' meal on Saturday night until late.
The BMC's local team will be there in force to offer advice and recommendations for climbing and walking. They will also be offering free* breakfast butties to attendees and a friendly and relatively midge free ambience to all.
Dow, Duddon and Slate guide is out of print, but we will have topos available at the campsite for a donation to Mountain Rescue. Lots of lesser-known crags nearby to climb at, and not too far from Esk Buttress, Dow, or Scafell. Please bring a nylon brush to help clean up any routes you do over the weekend.
