The BMC are looking for a few more keen climbers to come along to the International Climbing Meet at Lands End, Cornwall in mid-May. If you think this is 'not for you' - you may well be wrong - we're looking for the people from the whole range of climbing abilities so please read on.
We've had applications from 26 UK climbers to host on the Meet so far (the deadline is 19 Feb) and there are still 10 or so places available. We're particularly keen to hear from younger climbers (20-30 age range ish) with some experience of climbing in this part of Cornwall.
Full details of the event can be found on the BMC web site here
The BMC has been running an annual International Meet for over 20 years and they're always fantastic occasions - at the end of the last 'Summer' Meet (held in North Wales in 2008) two different people told me it'd been the best week of their life!
The Lands End Meet will be attended by around 35 overseas guests and 35 UK hosts. 26 countries have applied and it looks set to be an amazing mix of people - the list includes the likes of:
Japan
Italy
South Africa
Israel
Cameroon
Slovenia
France
USA
Portugal
Iran
Ukraine
Sweden
Kyrgyzstan
Based on previous Meets the typical age range of overseas guests will be in the 20-30 year old category. Climbing standards (grades) will vary considerably so we're looking for people operating across the whole spectrum - from severe upwards. We would also welcome more applications from female climbers - the USA for example are sending two women along on the Meet. Some of the overseas guests will have little experience of climbing on natural protection or on sea cliffs and the majority will be operating in the VS-E3 range.
You'll need to be a BMC member (you can join now if you're not already) and the total cost for the week, including all meals, is £70.00.

...and by the way - past experience tells us that the sun always shines during this week in May. If it isn't then there is always the option of surfing at Sennen beach 10-15 mins down the road.
