Funding for ML and SPA Courses

Apex Training, based in the Lake District, have been running Mountain Leader (ML) and Single Pitch Award (SPA) training and assessment courses since the late 1990s, and are the largest independent provider of ML courses in the UK. Because the company is a quality assured training provider for the National Skills Academy for Sport & Active Leisure, which works to improve training opportunities in the workforce, candidates can apply to receive up to 60% funding towards fees when booked on certain Apex Training courses.

Candidates must be booked on courses prior to applying for help with funding.

Candidates could receive up to 60% funding for the following Apex Training courses:

  • Mountain Leader (ML) assessment
  • Single Pitch Award (SPA) assessment
  • Walking Group Leader (WGL) assessment
  • Local Cave Leader Award assessment (level two)

Apex ML Courses 2010 (full fees quoted):

Training: £400
Assessment: £410

  • March 14th - 19th
  • April 4th - 9th
  • May 30th - June 4th
  • June 20th - 25th
  • July 18th - 23rd
  • Aug 15th - 20th
  • September 12th - 17th
  • October 24th - 29th
  • November 14th - 19th

Training courses commence 10.30am on a Sunday and finish 5pm the following Friday. Assessment courses commence 3.30pm on a Sunday and finish 5pm the following Friday. NB ML courses book up quickly.

Prices include instruction, fully catered accommodation and transport on the course. All 2010 courses are based at the Holly How YHA in Coniston.

Apex SPA courses 2010 (full fees quoted):

There will be one SPA training course per month from April to October.
Assessment courses run from May to November. Prices are for course only:

Training: £125
Assessment: £140

Very good reputation. Fair assessments and don't use trainers/assessors who have ego's to inflate by giving you a hard time. I have known plenty of people who have used them and none had a bad word to say. Highly recommended

I know and have worked with most of the folks from Apex. Top quality training! You should learn loads from them. Hope you enjoy your training course. (BTW I don't work for Apex, just my personal view of their experience and skills as training providers)
