The super-light Pertex Quantum fabric (30g/m2) provides a windproof, water resistant outer that is extremely breathable and quick drying. If you're used to wearing soft-shell jackets then this will blow your mind - it will give you twice the warmth and twice the functionality, the only thing it won't do is provide quite as much kudos in the pub (unless your in a pub in a mountainous region).

Underneath we have a 60g/m2 fill of Primaloft One - the warmest synthetic insulation on the market. With its silicon finish the Primaloft repels water so you don't end up with a heavy sodden jacket (although the Rab Generator Smock is unlikely to EVER be described as heavy at 340g!!). Primaloft is also extremely compressible and the Generator Smock will pack down to the size of a grapefruit (or possibly a pomegranate in the smaller sizes?), you can't really compare it to a fiber-pile jacket in terms of pack down size as it is just too funny...
