Big Stone sees a great opportunity in the UK rope market to reinvigorate this historically important brand, whose handling and performance are so well suited to what UK climbers demand that it really should not be long before Edelweiss is restored once more as one of the key rope brands in the UK today. Acting as agents, Big Stone intend to make full use of their established relationships with all technical stored and their new show room located in Sheffield to present Edelweiss alongside the ever expanding collections offered by their existing brands ARCTERYX AND 5.10.

Edelweiss are the innovators of the demanding edge resistant test which consists of holding a fall factor 2, as in the standard test, but replacing the 5mm radius bar with an edge 0.75mm radius. This has led to the development of the Edge Resistant line of ropes. Elsewhere the water resistant properties of the Alpine line receive the Super Everdry treatment which is applied to every fibre in the core and the sheath and surpasses the standard Everdry treatment offered in the Rock Climbing Rope Line, building on the fact that dry treatment was an Edelweiss first. Most Edelweiss ropes also receive the Perdur treatment which enhances the resistance of the sheath to abrasion, thus extending the life of the rope. Another new concept from the company is the ARC (Advanced Rope Control) system with the sheath design changing at the midpoint to make rope management easier when top roping and abseiling.
