Multi-Fuel stove now fitted in West room during recent work party.
Please take in smokeless fuel as standard coal can clog up the flue.
No fuel source near the bothy but stove should prove more efficient, has a flat top so you can cook on it.
Thanks to all who visit as the place was spotless

I thought the whole area was crying out for some substantial reafforestation which would provide firewood for the future.

It's managed for Red Deer; therefore it's a desert.

Yes, shame. The geography of the area is fabulous. I kept trying to visualise how it could be turned into an eco estate. I'd allow a FEW deer. I imagined Tarf house sheltered by trees with huge drying piles of wood ready for those dark nights, and some of the other old buildings across the way, renovated, accommodating like minded individuals.

Have always been impressed by the work done by the Loch Garry regeneration group.

Hopefully at the Tarf we can get some planting done, not so sure I want the wood up the chimney though.

Thanks for that link, fantastic reading. I genuinely had no idea about Iceland either - pretty shocking.

Yes, thanks for the link. Great.

We came across some impressive plantations on the way through to Fealar Lodge I remember, which just shows what can be done if the will is there.

'They also received the Benson and Hedges conservation award for game fishing waters'.

Conjures up a picture! Don't imagine that is handed out nowadays.

Thanks for all the work. Very sociable stay there last night.
We left the two stones holding up the grate in the stove. Assume they are a vital piece of equipment.
In reply to Mike-W-99:

The stove was mooched from the Feshie bothy (Feshie being renovated now and new stoves being installed in there)
Bizarrely the grates which were the originals in the stove have shrunk in size, therefore the 2 rocks holding up the now wee grates.
New bigger grates being made in Perth and will be fitted in November.
The increased altitude must be responsible.
In reply to richard marshall:

The stove is working well with two new grates made and fitted.

Please take in smokeless coal if using the stove.

Bothy clean and tidy, thanks to all the visitors who have passed through.
