I've got on here first to report Jasmin Paris has recorded 15.34 on the BG. What do you think of that then!!

What is the BG?

I like that!!!
Bob Graham round.......but I'm sure Bear Grylls will put in a bid for renaming it now.

Wow, that is impressive. As well as a women's record, isn't that the fifth fastest time ever?

Edit: I'm looking at Steve Chilton's book and it appears to be, but not sure how up to date it is.

Ah the Bob Graham round! Awesome and astonishing. 5th fastest ever and smashed the womens' record

Holy cow. She's been doing some fast stuff this season, but that's just fantastic - more than two hours off the existing record. Is she Billy's long lost twin or something?

Fantastic effort.

To save lazy old me googling, does she have a blog / fb page relating to this attempt?

In reply to interdit:

Someone mentioned Twitter (afrad I don't do any of those things), I had it just now off FRA forum, believed 5th fastest.

She was pretty damn good on the Dragons Back last year (and really nice lady), but I had no idea she was that fast!

An acquaintance of mine (also ran the Dragons Back) is just coming into the finish of his BG now, I'm guessing Jasmin must have gone steaming past him a few hours ago. I can imagine his face, "WTF was that just went past"?

She was also 2nd lady (only 10 mins back of Emelie Forsberg, who is probably the best female mountain runner in the world these days) at the Glencoe Skyline race last summer, ahead of Es Tresidder!

No. She's very modest and doesn't do that. She just runs!

The nearest you'll get is the FRA facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/44498401718/permalink/10154150917541719/

Unless she sends us a report for the Carnethy Hill runners site.

I believe that everywhere else it has been reported as 15h24 (or 15h23), not 15h34. So even faster! Bloody brilliant effort, especially considering she nipped round it in February with Konrad also.

Numerical dyslexia and over excitement on my part, apologies.

In reply to Moley:

Doesn't count being first with the wrong number!

Jeepers, though - what an effort. My impression is the top few times were done long ago, as well - wonder how long since anyone went faster than that.

It's a pity (in a way) they don't have a race over the course every now and then.

That showed how great she was. Forsberg is with the Solomon machine, a full time athlete with awesome support.

Incredible time.

This will probably stand for decades. Just great to see a top runner have a go, it'd be great to see some of the top blokes have serious attempts at Billy's..

I feel this is one of the great disappointments, there have been very few attempts at BBs record. I know it is a great record and many are in awe of it, but hardly anyone even tries and there are runners out there who could surely give it a crack.

Now there are male and female records that will be unachievable to all but the very elite!

Moley 24 Apr 2016
In reply to Moley:

Stupid sentence of mine, of course records are only achievable by the elite - that is why they are records!

I think there are soft records, some a basically mere publicity stunts. They set off all but guaranteed the record, and few want to attempt records with a high chance of failure, like the BGR and 3000ers

Superb! Nicky Spinks is no slouch and she's smashed the time. There's a great low key account of her winter round along the lines of "finished work, drove to the start, ran round the Lakes for a bit" here:
http://www.inov-8.com/blog/jasmin-paris-winter-bob-graham-round/
Turns out that was just a warm up run
 zephr 24 Apr 2016
In reply to Moley:
Yeah,
she started off on a 17:30 schedule and basically blitzed her splits all the way through.
We kept having to text the other supporters to make sure they were a) awake and b) on the way to the right place 2 hours ahead of time.

Was a superb day for it as well, and she was smiling pretty much the entire way.
She is saying that she's going to start a blog, so a record BG is quite a way to start it....
video of her finishing is on facebook.

I really hope she steps up to the Alpine Ultra's.. She showed at Glencoe she can compete with the best and this just reinforced how special she is. I don't know much about her at all, does she have time to commit to those events? The sponsorship from Invo8? That seems pretty odd recently..

Inov8 seem an odd company at the moment.

Interesting comment from Saz on the other forum, that womans record is now where it should be at 10 - 12% behind the male record.
I guess that's about right and I had not thought of it in that context.

She works full time and "fits in her running" around that. Given that Emelie Forsberg is a full time sponsored athlete being 10mins behind her at the Glencoe skyline is amazing and according to her write up on Carnethy site was due to a unfortunate toilet stop!

Amazing athlete, humble, dedicated and incredibly talented!!

Yeah I get pissed off with Coreless's love in with Solomon..

After the Glencoe race he gave much more press to EF when the break out star was Paris..

But money pays and he's part of the corporate side of running that spins Solomon news. If you read his article about the relative strengths of the World Trail Champs versus other races he's firmly behind the money...

Astounding. That must be up there in the top 5 fastest times, surely ? I can't quite take that time in. I wonder how she'll get on at Jura next month?

Yeah I wonder how many great records she'll take..

The problem with Jura is its hard to get good weather. In clag times plummet. I was 3rd there in over 4 hours yet ran 3:40 and came something like 10th..

Jasmin is a vet and a European Specialist in Small Animal Medicine, comfortably one of the most difficult exams to pass anywhere. Some people just seem to have all the talent!

She took the record at Jura 3:38.43 last year despite getting lost on the way to one of the early checkpoints. I turned up at the top of the hill near the start, and was surprised to see Jasmin and a whole line of people on her heals coming up from entirely the wrong direction.

That's the last time I was in front of her in a race.

In reply to ablackett:

The year I came 3rd I set off and hung onto Chris Near, excellent navigator.. so many dropped out due to not making the first checkpoint. Including Mick Fowler.

The next day I went back up and it was hilarious seeing stud marks going literally in every direction off the first summit..
