I read A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson a while ago, and just watched the film that came out last year, and noticed two annoying things:

Often, Katz and Bryson's bags really don't look adjusted.

They never use their hiking poles. Not even when they're looking to get some clothes that have been thrown out of reach.

Thoughts?

Im a big fan of Brysons. It's easy reading at its best, but haven't seen the movie.
I'm scared it'll put me off him if it's crap.

In reply to deacondeacon:

As with any movie, it misses out a lot from the book, but that's fine.

It's alright. Some very funny bits. Might have gone down better if I'd read the book recently, and if Robert Redford didn't constantly remind me of a newsreader from anon film.
