I've booked a two week challenging hiking trek around Mont Blanc in the summer. It'll be the hardest walking I've ever done (Dolomites last year - learnt a lot - as well as Tuscany- not v hard).

Friends have asked me whether I'd like to join them for 4-5 days in the Austrian Tyrol. I'd have 5 days to rest until the first hike around MB. I'm hoping if I go to Austria, it'll be a good warm up and make the MB tour easier. I'm doing as much walking as I can up until July. Not many mountains in London though!

Any advice would be greatly received.

5 days is plenty to rest, assuming you won't be doing much those 5 days! The only thing I think about if I've booked a (usually expensive) trip is getting injured before I go, so if you have any potentially niggling things that could be exacerbated then they're worth minding. But other than that as you say, it would be a great warm up right?

Thanks - yes a great warm up. And I won't overdo it and enjoy being amongst more mountains! Thank you
