So can anyone talk me through the process from an uploaded photo on Flickr to sharing the image on here (via a link)? I suspect this is more commonsense rather than photo stuff but I seem to be lacking in the commonsense tonight.

Select photo and choose share (may be shown as an arrow). Should pop up a dialog.
(Note this gives different options depending on where in flickr you do this... From camera roll doesnt give you all the options)

Anyway select embed(or bbcode), it'll give you a very long url like this -
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96168376@N02/24400603649/in/album-72157664033..." title="IMG_3030"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1535/24400603649_88a6edcb22_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="IMG_3030"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The only bit you really need is the direct link to the jpg in this case https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1535/24400603649_88a6edcb22_z.jpg

Sounds convoluted but works fine in practice.

Thanks. I'm fairly certain I can share the photo but can't work out how to check everything that would be shared with others.

If this makes sense - I copy the link and paste it into a new browser window and I seem to have access to all my photos as well as who I am.

I'll look at it all again tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

You will still be logged on in other windows. try it in a different browser if you have one installed or if you have chrome in an incognito window.
