Hi

I'm just getting into hill walking, I need a tent that sleeps 2 and will stand up to strong winds and bad weather. I will use it 3-4 seasons round the year in UK national parks and would like it to be around 2KG or less.

My budget is up to £200 and I am happy to buy decent second hand off ebay or similar. Any recommendations welcome.

Thanks

Barry

With your requirements and budget, I would go for a 3-season dome style tent with a ripstop polyester fly. These are usually a bit heavier than 2KG, expect them to weigh somewhere between 2.4 and 3.1

A good candidate would be the MSR Elixir 2, which has a very stable pole structure.

Another vote for the Elixir 2. Really good, durable fabric, and a couple of of footprints etc available, which is a bonus.

Thanks guys. Is the elixir robust in winds? I read a few reviews that suggested it was a bit flimsy.. But some others saying it was good.
