“You know when you meet someone, and they immediately have a presence about them? That’s the sort of person we’re looking for.”

We are recruiting for a Duty Manager for our Essex-based site, High Sports Basildon.

This isn’t your average 9-5 desk job, you’ll be encouraged to use your initiative, be creative and constantly improve the performance of your site. You will need to work closely with the Centre Manager and Senior Instructor to deliver financial performance, outstanding quality of climbing activities for first time and established climbers, develop existing staff and ensure health and safety standards are met at your site.

For over 20 years High Sports have been delivering industry leading climbing experiences: we believe Everyone Can Climb, which is why we currently operate centres across the UK, and continue to develop new locations. We aim to deliver outstanding value and exceptional quality to our customers at every step of their journey into the climbing world. Each of our locations has a strong sense of community, which you will need to become a key member of in order to succeed.

There are pages of tasks and responsibilities that could be listed for this role but there’ll be plenty of time to cover that later - above all we are looking for a strong personality with a desire to succeed. Our most successful staff members have a real determination to excel and are passionate about introducing new people to climbing.

Ideally you’ll have experience with content based marketing and social media as well as proven customer service experience and the ability to express yourself with confidence to a staff team, managers, clients and customers.

Experience working within a climbing environment, either a dedicated climbing wall or a mixed activity centre, will be advantageous as will being a qualified instructor who can shift easily between customer service tasks and delivering high-quality, engaging climbing sessions.

If you think you’re right for this role we urge you to apply, even if you don’t quite fit the description above. We believe in finding the best person for a given role and then working with them to further develop their skills and expand their experience – you don’t have to be a climber…yet.

Full time (40 hours per week over a two week timetable)
Permanent
Competitive Salary
Weekend and evening work required
Closing Date: Sunday 21st of February 2016.
