Hi,
Off to Scotland (Caingorms) for some climbing over the next week and was wondering if anybody has any links to any useful avalanche resources. Both reading/watching for information on avoiding them but also websites for conditions. I have done courses before which have contained avalanche information and am not substituting that with the internet, I am just keen to have a refresh in my mind and make sure I can remember everything I need to remember so I get back in one piece!
Cheers,
TK

There are links to some weather resources here under Mountain Forecasts tab here. The snowflake at the right hand side takes you to the relevant areas avalanche report.

SAIS has great info / education stuff as well as the forecasts so definitely a first port of call. In general (though late for this trip) I'd recommend Bruce Temper's Staying alive in avalanche Terrain - a great read to brush up each season and has lots of decision making tools described to help you make a good decision.

National Avalanche centre (US based, not UK!) website has lots of info http://www.fsavalanche.org/

And Glenmore's avalanche quiz is really good little refresher too:

LAst but not least - BCA's website has good stuff on search and rescue techniques if your party is caught.

Ski orientated, but still mostly very valid.

Cheers!
