Im heading out to the Alps for a couple of weeks at Easter and was hoping to do a multiday hut-to-hut ski tour for the first time. Does anyone have words of wisdom as to any that might be best to cut my teeth on.
I've previously done a few single day ski tours in Scotland and I'm comfortable skiing black runs and off piste terrain.
I would agree with everything Ken says. I did my first hut to hut tour their last year. It was fantastic. Let me know if you want anymore information. I also bought a copy of the BMC dvd on ski touring which was quite useful and is filmed in the Silvretta.
Some chap wrote this article a few years ago. He hadn't much ski mountaineering under his belt when he did the tour. Although a different tour to Silvretta, there may be some useful ideas and advice in there for you:
