Happy new year!
With a beautiful forecast here's an early heads up for what you might find in the Cuillin this weekend.
Until today there was just a smattering of fairly irrelevent snows.
Winds were strong SW.
Today's snow came down pretty heavily for most of the daylight. Cover down to about 2000ft but appreciably thicker at about 2700ft.
Temps were slow to drop and got to about 4 deg at sea-level, probably rain then wet snow so hopefully it will be well stuck.
Ridges will be slow work but a good challenge- translate summer scrambling grade for what to expect by winter grade. Mixed routes high should reward and my favoured options might be Am Basteir or Thearlaich. Please post if you're out enjoying

Monday 11th-
Things were still a bit thin & dry on Friday but some good temperature fluctuations, snow overnight Saturday and more coming down today all building up for great mixed conditions at the start of the Skye Winter Festival-http://skyeguides.co.uk/category/news/
Places available right through the next fortnight still.
Keeping an eye on Red Cuillin/Storr/Scamadal conditions. Turfs will be frozen above 600m but I think the main falls will need another week at least.

In reply to Mike Lates:

Good riming on most aspects above 750m; good for high mixed lines. Snowline low but no consolidation right to ridge crest. Crest slow so no Traverses 'til we've had a thaw. Turf & ice beginning to be useful for Trotternish & Red Cuillin options. Updates on Skye Winter Festival FB page- https://www.facebook.com/skyewinterfestival/
Places available still right through.
