Hi Merlin,
It all seems pretty vague what you're asking for. I would suggest you define what you are wanting from your day out. I tend to look for things (features like big open slopes or gullies) I want to do and try to link them. Granted, it involves a fair amount of pouring over maps...
I suspect the crux will be to catch it good.
Visits of all the Northern corries in one day.
ski at the back of liatach.
A visit of Sgorr Ruadh via some gullies.
Etc...

But like Erick says it depends what you are after.

Now that's well cool!

But a lot of the routes are not skiing routes, they're routes you do with skis on. So I come back to defining what the OP is after.
I want to ski when I go ski touring. Some people want to travel fast over wintry hills. They use the same equipment but are nearly 2 different sports. Not that one is superior to the other. It's more about what makes you tick I suppose.

Well, I would say travelling fast over wintry hills is "touring", the clue is in the name. I take it what you want to do is off piste skiing? There are a couple of new guide books to off piste in Scotland I've not read them but I'm told their very good.

Exactly my point, ski touring means different things for different people. To me, it always was more ski than touring. For some it is more touring than ski. That website is a good resource and I think it is cool. But if the OP is after skiing, he might be disappointed.
I would disagree on off-piste skiing definition. IMO off-piste is off a piste, so you're not getting yourself up that slope or only minimally (using tows... and add some walking) and you're close to a resort.
While ski touring, I try to find interesting skiing ground well away from tows under my own steam. That is admittedly my own definition!

Thanks, the website is really useful. My question was deliberately vague to get a varied responses. I'm interested in everything, I'm not particularly bothered about a repeated experience. More interested to know peoples' favourite long tours covering distance in the same instance as others' short gullies which they like dropping into. The more the merrier.
