I'm just finishing Anthony Beevor's tome on the Second World War. One of the dominating themes, to my mind, is the sheer scale of the industrial and logistical efforts needed to keep the war going - feeding and arming armies of tens and hundreds of thousands of troops. Does anyone have recommendations for books which explore this, in particular the ways in which factories coped with the enormous demands?

You may find your answers in books that explore the role of women during the war.
