Breaking News - another huge earthquake in Nepal

Reports coming in of another earthquake of 7.4 has just hit Nepal. Epicentre apparantly in the region of Everest.

This is a nightmare.

Those poor people.

Reuters are saying magnitude of 7.1, BBC has just said 7.4

Awful. Scary thing is it isn't going to get better...usgs worried that the stress has progressed along the faul line...they are concerned of an earthquake in the 8's!! to the west of Pokhara. Lets hope it stays away!

That could be years off. I got the impression this series of events has propogated eastwards. The USGS seem to be saying the area to the west hasn't had a release event for a long time which might mean that there could be a very big one to the west but not necessarily associated with the current events and is just something looking likely to happen at some point.

I think the immediate worry is the danger of increased landslide and avalanche activity which will be triggered by the Monsoon as the mountain and hillsides have been become even more unstable than than they were before these earthquakes.
