The Beacon Climbing Centre in Caernarfon is a large, busy indoor climbing wall with a range of users including children, beginners, community groups, experienced climbers and holidaymakers. The Centre also hires out rooms for meetings, classes and events, and the centre café offers light meals and refreshments, and catering for special events.

Post: Centre Manager
Location: Caernarfon, North Wales
Contract: permanent, full time (minimum 40 hours per week)
Holidays: statutory
Sick pay: statutory
Pension: pension scheme available
Salary: approx £20,000 dependant on experience
Start date: as soon as possible

The centre manager reports to the ClimbUK directors, and responsibilities include:
• Overseeing all aspects of the day to day running of the climbing centre and Caffi Barcud
• Managing a small team of staff and approx 20 freelance instructors
• Providing reception & instruction cover as needed, and in particular during busier periods
• Overseeing route setting & contributing to maintaining good quality routes and boulder problems
• Taking responsibility for H&S issues & keeping up with latest legislation
• Overseeing organisation, booking & invoicing of Beacon courses
• Staff programming, training and monitoring
• Liaising with directors and other key staff on marketing and courses
• Some work is office based.

The ideal candidate should:
• Have excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills
• Be an active climber with an interest in climbing indoors & outdoors
• Be energetic, hard working & able to inspire other staff
• Have previous experience of working in a climbing wall
• Hold the MIA award, or at least the SPA/CWA and CWLA as a minimum
• Be an experienced route setter
• Be prepared to work flexible shifts including regular evenings and weekends
