Hi All,

Supposed to be lovely weather up here on Saturday, so my partner and I will be heading out in the hills.

Looking for recommendations for some nice walks that are easier to get to from Glasgow by train. Helensburgh is cheap, Milgavie, Balloch etc but have done most of the obvious routes around these and don't fancy any West Highland Way parts by Milngavie again.

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks in advance.

ML.

Train or bus out Stirling way, then up the Ochils?
Arrochar type neck of the woods for The Cobbler and many more?

Plenty of options from the West Highland line (Cobbler/Narnain from Arrochar, Vorlich from Ardlui etc). Dumyat from Bridge of Allan. Pentlands from Curriehill.

Ochils are difficult with trains/bus combinations and arrocher is just too far, it's either £30 on the train or 2 hours with buses.

We're actually ten miles from glasgow (coatbridge) so kinda add that on..

Will definitely get up Arrocher way for a weekend soon though...cobbler looks awesome!

Cheers

Curriehill is cheap and only 1hr on the train so could be good, likewise with bridge of allan so will check out these areas!

Thanks

Update: Dumyat looks lovely, winner so far!

Little over two hours and £45 on the train for us so a bit far/expensive!

Bus to Luss or Glen Douglas if you don't want to go as far as Arrochar - plenty of options on the Luss hills.

Maybe out of your price/time range, but train to Gourock and ferry to Dunoon?

Train to Lanark, bus to Thankerton, go up Tinto?
