Hi,

I am spending couple of weeks in the Alps in July on a course.
I have an old pair of Nepals (pre Evo's).
They are great but weigh a ton.

Are they overkill for the Alps in July? I know boots are all down to fit.
If you were buying now, which boots would try on.

I wold like to get some now so i can get some miles in before i go.

Cheers for an advice

I've been up to 4200m the last two summers wearing Scarpa Charmoz (b2) and my feet have been fine. Admittedly we've only ever climbed when the weather has been good.

I'm assuming that it's your first time to the alps. Personally I would go with what you have to start with and save your money.
You will have a better idea after the trip on what you want from your climbing then go out and buy boots that work for style of climbing etc.
If however you have cash burning a hole in your pocket I would probably get b2 boots for classic summer alpine routes.
