I'm wanting to learn more about forecasting weather in the mountains. I've been looking at this book

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mountain-Weather-Backcountry-Snowboarders-Mountaine...

My thoughts are that while this book looks brilliant, it perhaps would be a bit North America specific, where I'm more likely to spend the majority of my climbing career in the UK / European Alps.

Do you guys think that the general principles should be well transferrable to other continents?

and

Does anyone have any books they would recommend for this aim

Also, any recommendations for Avalanche literature???

In reply to JonnoMaude:

For weather have a look at "Mountain Weather - A practical guide for Hillwalkers and climbers" by David Pedgley and published by Cicerone.

For avalance reading - Chance in a million? Is a good one to start, as is Avalanche!: Understand and Reduce Risks from Avalanches

Theres also loads to read on the MET office website, and also the SAIS website has lots of good stuff about avalanche.

For avalanche literature I recommend Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain by Bruce Tremper. It's excellent.
