It's like slamming your hands in a car door...

A lecture about pain, suffering and determination to succeed, delivered by Pete Whitaker and Tom Randall: two of this generation's gnarliest climbers.

Back in 2011, Pete Whittaker and Tom Randall aka The Wide Boyz, emerged from a brutal two-year training regime, mostly spent hanging upside down in Tom's Sheffield cellar to embark on an 8 week tour of the US, searching for the widest, dirtiest and hardest cracks around. Their trip culminated in the much coveted first ascent of Century Crack in Moab – the ultimate off-width test piece and undoubtedly the hardest roof crack ever climbed – and propelled these two masochists to international climbing stardom.

Since then the dynamic duo have continued their mission to climb really hard and really gnarly stuff with numerous impressive UK ascents and their 2013 ascent of world renowned Cobra Crack (an F8b+/c finger crack in Squamish, British Columbia).

Beards, Bagels and Big Walls tells the story of their 2014 quest to Yosemite to try to free climb El Capitan - not once but 3 times. In one trip - and the developmental journey of The Wide Boyz: the offwith training and Century Crack, thin crack training and Cobra Crack, the endurance training and the Brown Whillans challenge. Not to be missed!
