I'm after a good deal on a mountain tent. Ideally 2 man dome/semi dome tent or similar though all ideas considered. For camping in Scotland in winter/summer, camping up at col du Midi etc.

Ideally sub 4kg, decent sized porch, snow skirt not essential.

Any recommendations?

Have a look at the Vaude Power Odyssee. Name is about as stupid as it gets, but it is a great tent. Only drawback is that it is single entrance (similar to e.g. the Hilleberg Jannu). If you are after something absolutely bombproof I can recommend the Hilleberg Tarra. Slightly bigger, two porches, almost getting on to 4kg, hard to get cheaply anywhere.

To provoke thought if you camping at the Col du midi you'll need to take it down and carry it. So have a happy camper for the valley and something superlight for trips? I have a MH direkt 2 i wouldn't like to spend a week in but is damn light and easy to pitch and break down
