Am planning on a trip to the Lakes next weekend to practice navigation for winter ML. Can anyone recommend a location that would be good for 1:50 nav practice that is 'similar' to the areas that could get used for a winter ML assessment? The Lakes version of the Cairngorm Plateau would be good.

Helvellyn / White Side / Raise / Dodd's etc.

High Street - Caudale Moor area.

Bowfell - Scafell Pike area.

Not comparable but will still offer good practice

I assume you'll also be going out in either crap visibility during the day or preferably on a dark night?
