Am planning a Glen Avon outing and Google tells me that Faindouran Bothy suffered serious damage last year. Has anyone been since, or know if the damage is repaired?

It's not repaired unfortunately though the stable building opposite is normally open - The stable is usable, but floored with massive rounded cobbles, and normally damp so not comfortable in the least! No fireplace either.

check the MBA website for current status of the bothy.

Cheers,

Stu

See here - I think some sort of temporary tarpaulin repair was done to keep the weather out until the funds are available to rebuild the gable wall.

A temporary repair was effected last summer, replacing the collapsed gable with mdf, which gave it a degree of weatherproofing (but no fire obviously). A major work party is pencilled in for May/June.

Was there back in the summer, and it was partly useable. Opted to camp, as didn't fancy sleeping in a leaky bothy in a midge storm, but did use it to cook my tea in.
